[it's late and dark; nothing can be seen but a glint of Bel's nose and eyes in the blinking MID light. this time the alto is a tired growl.]

Miles, if you're dead again, so help me I'm kissing you insensible when you get back. I've found a friend to help me get into some of the sealed areas. Best we can do if you're still on board at all. [ miles feels bad about worrying everyone, but bel is among the highest ranked there. he still feels too much like a walking corpse -- still in too black a mood, preoccupied with what he sawin the morgue -- to do much besides type a text message back. ]

I'm not dead, Bel, so you're free of any lip-locking obligation. I haven't left the ship, just...been unexpectedly unavailable, sorry. If you're going to go breaking into sealed areas of the ship, you'd best be careful -- and I know you are careful, but this place warrants extra caution. This isn't like anywhere we've been before.
