IC Voice Mail "Personnel Officer Miles here. If this is a personal matter, leave a message; if it's ship business-related, may I direct you to the Personnel Office's suggestion box. Sending me a barrage of texts will not make me respond to you any faster, so don't, Ivan." Mun Contact PLURK: |

By all means, step into my office.

Settled in a chair opposite his desk, Sans looked more... business-like than usual. It was a low bar to begin with and the transformation wasn't that dramatic, but still. He'd yet to make one joke about the decor.]
Since I first got here, there've been people talking about some... creepy, clothed skeleton monster terrorizing everyone. That true?

miles raises his eyebrows, tenting his fingers in front of his mouth. no question why sans is curious there. ]
Yes. We're still not exactly clear on what it was, but it certainly was skeleton-shaped and was wearing what looked like a tattered Moira uniform. It wasn't just terrorizing -- it put at least a dozen people in the medbay. Just about a month ago, actually.

Huh. And nobody got a chance to talk to them? [Regardless of what this monster had done, it never even occured to Sans to call them an 'it.' Not that he judged Miles for it. He was human, after all.] Get their side of things? Or a name?
no subject
Talk to them? No one could even get near them.
[ miles picks up on that difference in pronouns and adjusts accordingly, watching for sans' reactions. ]
At least not with paying for it. Most people unlucky enough to get caught alone in the dark got attacked -- I don't know as much about the thing as I'd like, but I think it was siphoning energy. Left a nasty black scar on anyone so unfortunate. Damn near killed several crew. They didn't seem interested in anything but easy targets, though, so strength in numbers worked out in our favor. But even when we managed to corner them, they didn't exactly chat. No talking at all, actually.
[ miles spreads his hands, though he frowns slightly. ]
I wish there had been. Talking, I mean. I'd really like to know more.

Was it possible they felt trapped? Scared? Hard to say. Honestly, what Sans was most surprised by was that nobody killed them outright. A gang of humans could make short work of any monster, in Sans' experience.]
That actually tells me a lot, man. Thanks. [And, up he goes again.] Sorry to bug you about this. All those stories had me too curious to ignore.
no subject
but he jerks his chin up as sans rises to leave, speaking up before sans has a chance to leave. ]
We didn't kill them. In fact, I don't think any of us could've hurt them. They're still on the ship -- just locked away, where they can't hurt anyone.
no subject
Yeah? [Sans' voice was free of judgement, but his brow bone raised all the same.] Where at?
no subject
Ask the captains.

I'll see you later, Sans.
no subject
Heh, alright, alright. See you later, Miss Manganese.
[Sans returned the grin and the wave, slipping out the door without another word. If Miles were to open it, the hallway would be completely empty, as if Sans was never there at all.]
